Stephen O. Drenner

Attorney

Steve Drenner is the founding principal of Drenner Group, P.C., a Texas land use law firm established in April of 2014. Prior to that date, he practiced with the following firms: Jenkens & Gilchrist (1979-1992); Drenner & Stuart (1992-2000); Drenner Stuart Wolff Metcalfe Von Kreisler (2000-2005); Drenner & Golden Stuart Wolff (2005-2011); Winstead (2011-2014).

Steve’s practice primarily involves obtaining entitlements for developers and landowners. Geographically, he has represented clients with projects along the I-35 corridor from Arlington to San Antonio, with the highest concentration of projects in the Austin, Texas area. That representation has covered zoning cases, plats, site development and building permits, special permits, grandfathering, economic incentives and public-private partnerships.

For the first 15 years of his practice, he worked as a real estate transactional attorney, working on all aspects of development projects. He continues to provide transactional representation to clients with land use needs.

Steve’s professional affiliations include the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Bar Association, the Real Estate Council of Austin (founding President) and the Hill Country Conservancy (past President).

Steve has received numerous awards and recognition over his career. Two that he is particularly proud of are being named as one of the Top 5 Real Estate Lawyers in Texas by Texas Lawyer and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Austin Business Journal.

Steve received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Kansas in 1976, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He received a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas in Austin in 1979.
