United Properties may Build 280 Apartments on South Congress

Minneapolis-St. Paul-based United Properties is making its Austin debut with plans for a 280-unit apartment project on South Congress Avenue near St. Elmo Public Market. The proposed five-story development at 4329 and 4341 Congress Ave. will feature 5,500 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space but will require the demolition of the St. Elmo’s Backyard food truck park and Access Self Storage. This project joins a wave of new developments reshaping the St. Elmo area, including apartment complexes, office spaces, and the eagerly anticipated St. Elmo Public Market, which will host food, beverage, and retail vendors in a revitalized 1950s warehouse.
