The 90-92 Rainey project in Austin proposes a 53-story tower with 198 apartments, 424 hotel rooms, and ground-floor restaurant space on a 0.37-acre site currently occupied by Bungalow and Container Bar. The tower will cater to convention center traffic, with a larger hotel component due to the nearby Austin Convention Center’s expansion. The project includes 140 underground parking spaces and plans for 19 affordable housing units. It has received preliminary approval from Austin’s Design Commission but still requires City Council approval. Developers aim to complete entitlement approvals by 2020.
