A proposed development at 614 S. First St. in Austin seeks to replace the Timbercreek Apartments with 550 new high-density apartments, featuring underground parking and increased open space. Buildings could rise up to 120 feet tall, offering 474,470 square feet of rentable space. The project, involving the Drenner Group, Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, and WGI, is under city review, focusing on affordable housing and potential trails along East Bouldin Creek. Concerns have been raised about the affordability of the new units compared to the existing ones, which currently start at $1,291 for a one-bedroom.
