Wildhorn Capital Aims to Develop 2,000-plus Apartments off East Riverside

Wildhorn Capital LLC plans to redevelop two South Austin apartment complexes, Hillside Villas and The Patten, into a 2,100-unit development, with 91 affordable housing units. The proposal seeks to increase the site’s height limit from 40 to 120 feet, in exchange for offering affordable housing. While the Austin Planning Commission has approved the zoning change, the plan faces opposition from some neighbors who are concerned about displacement and the site’s eligibility for the change. This project is part of ongoing redevelopment efforts in the East Riverside Corridor, near Oracle’s headquarters and future transit hubs.
