The Small Developer Training Program in Austin, hosted by the Austin Housing Finance Corp. (AHFC), is helping 20 small developers build affordable housing. Led by Capital Impact Partners and HousingWorks Austin, the program trains participants on navigating the local review process, securing financing, and finding land for development. Developers are learning about tax credits, zoning best practices, and financial strategies to create affordable housing. This effort supports Austin’s goal of building 60,000 affordable units for low-income households by 2027. The program, which began in July, emphasizes diversity and aims to address the city’s housing affordability crisis.
