Transwestern Starts Development at Former Arnold Oil Site

Transwestern Development Co. has started construction on a 4.2-acre mixed-use project at East Sixth Street and Comal Avenue, near Plaza Saltillo MetroRail station. The development will include a 94,500-square-foot office building and The Arnold, a 346-unit apartment complex with 9,600 square feet of retail.

Set for completion in 2016, the project aims to enhance East Austin’s vibrant culture, though it also highlights concerns about gentrification and its effects on the community.
